The start of the 2024 season has been a bit of a rollercoaster for the Las Vegas Raiders and their fans. There was optimism this offseason that the team could turn things around and at least be better than last season with the personnel changes they made, as well as the coaching change.

The Raiders have a very passionate fan base, one of the more passionate ones in the league and maybe even in the country for any sport. It's a big fan base, one that has a lot of expectations because of the amazing history it has. And, they expect that history to be repeated very soon, because it's been 20 years since the franchise has done anything worth talking about, respectfully.

So, when Antonio Pierce is hired, and he's just like them — grew up a Raiders fan in the Los Angeles area, and he has the Raider mentality, fans will be attracted to that. But, when you're not winning, or better yet when you're losing games you should be winning, they will turn on you, no matter who you are or where you're from.

And, he knows that.

"You know how RaiderNation is, man. They love you, they hate you, and then they come back and love you again," Pierce said on Monday.

The Raiders are 2-2, so the season is far from over. And, they have two wins on the year, both against playoff teams from last season the Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns. So, they are competing with the good teams, but cannot beat the teams they should be beating, like the Carolina Panthers or the Los Angeles Chargers.

That doesn't make them a good team, and, that's frustrating because they can be a good team. If Pierce wants to be loved by the fan base and be one of those guys who will always be loved, he's going to have to step it up.
