San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings had a career game against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3, catching 11 passes for 175 yards and three touchdowns.
At one point during the game, the former Tennessee Vols standout made a Randy Moss-like grab over a Rams defensive back.
The 49ers weren't able to take advantage of Jennings' huge game, falling 27-24 to the Rams.
After the game, reporters were eager to talk to Jennings about his big performance. But the former Vol left the locker room without speaking to the media.
On Thursday, Jennings spoke to reporters in the San Francisco locker room and he offered a perfect explanation for why he left without speaking to the media after the loss to the Rams.
"I just wasn't in the right headspace," said Jennings. "Just had a hard-fought game with my brothers. We took a loss. And I just wasn't in the right headspace. [I] didn't think I had the right answers for you all."
That's an incredibly mature reaction from Jennings. He knew emotions were high after a tough loss and he didn't want to drop a quote that he might regret later. More players should probably take Jennings' approach.
Unsurprisingly, Jennings also told reporters on Thursday that he goes to sleep at night think about the loss to Los Angeles.
"I'm always locked in," said Jennings. "Honestly, I go to sleep at night thinking about this last game because I don't want to disappoint [in] the next one. I'm not saying I have to go for 175 (yards) every week, but just making the best out of every opportunity."
I'm not sure there's anyone else in the NFL quite like Jennings.
