Indianapolis Colts coach Shane Steichen told reporters on Monday that Joe Flacco will remain the team's starting quarterback for their Week 11 game against the New York Jets (H/T ESPN's Adam Schefter).

Following the Colts 30-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Steichen was pressed a bit about whether or not Flacco would remain the starter moving forward. Flacco has struggled since taking over for second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson after Week 8, losing both of his starts and throwing four total interceptions.

Flacco played well early in the season in relief for Richardson, throwing for 716 yards and seven touchdowns with just one interception. In Flacco's defense for his last two outings, he has played a couple of very good defensive units in the Minnesota Vikings and Bills.

Despite his poor play and the losing, Steichen is sticking with the veteran Flacco. Perhaps he truly does believe Flacco is the Colts' best option at quarterback, or maybe he feels going back to Richardson will do more damage than good for his development.

Whatever the case, one thing is clear – if the Colts are going to make a playoff push this season, they have to immediately start stringing together some wins. They have already been swept by the Houston Texans, making winning the AFC South highly improbable.

However, a Week 11 matchup against the Detroit Lions notwithstanding, Indianapolis has a very favorable schedule – facing zero teams that currently have a winning record. Flacco is a former Super Bowl MVP and was able to take the Cleveland Browns to the postseason just last year. Getting off the schneid against the 3-7 Jets could be all the Colts need to start building some momentum.
