The Michigan Wolverines are a year removed from winning the national championship and still boast plenty of talent from that run.
In fact, recent NFL Draft expert Dane Brugler of The Athletic posted his most recent 2025 NFL Draft Big Board, and the Michigan Wolverines dominated the board. Michigan had four overall players in the top 50. All four were in the top 25, and three of the four were ranked 13th or higher.
Those four players, of course, are cornerback Will Johnson, defensive tackle Mason Graham, tight end Colston Loveland, and defensive tackle Kenneth Grant. Here's what Brugler had to say regarding each:
Will Johnson, #2 Overall
"My preseason No. 1 prospect, Johnson has missed multiple games this season due to shoulder and toe injuries, and the 2024 tape has had more volatility than you want to see. But he is fluid and long and shows terrific awareness in the passing game. Johnson still projects as a No. 1 cornerback in the NFL."
Mason Graham, #9 Overall
"Graham is one of the easiest prospects to like in the 2025 draft class. An explosive and relentless lineman, he naturally plays from a low position to consistently win leverage through contact and lean on his agility to chase the football. Graham is a menace — in the most complimentary way possible."
Colston Loveland, #13 Overall
"Despite being stuck in a sporadic passing offense, Loveland’s speed and receiving athleticism pop on each tape. Similar in ways to Dalton Kincaid, he will have limitations as an NFL blocker, but he can be a difference-maker as a hybrid pass catcher who can line up across the formation. Some teams are even scouting him as a wide receiver."
Kenneth Grant, #25 Overall
"There simply aren’t many 340-pound defensive tackles with the balance to play in gaps and the athletic range to work up and down the line of scrimmage. Grant also can hold the point of attack and is a better run defender than pass rusher at this point in his development."
Despite three players in the top 25 of Brugler's rankings, the defense is still one of the worst-performing in the country (though it put its best performance of the season out against Indiana). Colston Loveland is still the best tight end in the country, but the offense can barely take advantage of him.
This list doesn't even touch on other draftable players like running backs Donovan Edwards and Kalel Mullings, their linebacker duo of Ernest Hausmann and Jaishawn Barham, the pass rush combination of Josaiah Stewart and Derrick Moore, and left tackle Myles Hinton.
How Michigan HC Sherrone Moore fumbled the game away vs. Indiana
The Michigan Wolverines lost yet another winnable game this week, falling to the Indiana Hoosiers 20-15. This time, the loss fell solely at the feet of head coach Sherrone Moore for some truly abysmal game management decisions. The Wolverines got the ball out of halftime down 17-3 and had terrific field position after a 37-yard […]
This is an embarrassment of riches on this team, and yet the team is barely 5-5 and scraping for bowl eligibility.
There's no reason why the Wolverines should be as abysmal of a product as they are on the field, and it's an indictment of this coaching staff that they've not produced a single dominant game all season long.
