Fans of the Alabama Crimson Tide are bracing for what HC Kalen DeBoer admitted is a must-win game against the LSU Tigers

But following the first unveiling of the college football rankings, it's clear that Alabama is on thin ice, as they rank #11 in the 12 team playoff field.

And while taking care of business would suggest that the Tide control their own destiny, there are a few matchups this week that Tide fans should have a clear eye on, including one where a rooting interest favors the Ole Miss Rebels:

#3 Georgia vs. #16 Ole Miss

After taking the Bulldogs earlier this season, if the Rebels can take down Georgia and give them the same amount of losses as the Tide, it's going to be virtually impossible to rank Georgia over Alabama, even if their two losses (Alabama & Ole Miss) are better on paper than Alabamas losses against Vanderbilt and Tennessee.

Mississippi State vs. #7 Tennesee

Asking the Bulldogs to take down the Vols is more than a tall task given the fact they are 2-7 and the Vols are 7-1 and one of the best teams in the nation. But crazier things have happened and if the Vols were to fall at home against such an opponent, their win over the Tide would mean little as the Crimson and White would likely leapfrog the boys in burnt orange.

Washington vs. #6 Penn State

It's certainly not the same Huskies squad that Alabama HC Kalen DeBoer took to the national championship last year, but he and everyone else will be rooting for Washington to knock off a Penn State squad that is vulnerable after the adrenaline dump that could be the loss against the Ohio State Buckeyes
