Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan earlier in the week that quarterback Dak Prescott was "likely" headed to Injured Reserve following a hamstring injury that knocked him out of Week 9's loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Reports emerged on Monday about it being an injury more serious than originally thought and that Prescott would be out multiple weeks.

However, Prescott hasn't been placed on Injured Reserve just yet, leading to questions about the reason why. This was made particularly evident on Tuesday, when the Cowboys needed an open roster spot for recently-acquired WR Jonathan Mingo and interestingly enough, ended up waiving cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. instead of making the expected IR move with Dak.

NFL Network's Jane Slater provided some much-needed clarity on Prescott's injury, providing insight on what the injury is in the first place: "a partial avulsion of his hamstring tendon which is partially torn off the bone."

According to Slater's report, such an injury would need over a of month's worth of recovery, which would mean Prescott would have to be placed on IR. But the Cowboys quarterback is actively seeking additional opinions on his situation, likely in an effort to avoid being placed on IR and keep the hopes of saving the season alive. Albeit unrealistic, the Cowboys are still mathematically in the conversation.

Accusations of Prescott "quitting the team" exposed even further as straight up ridiculous

First and foremost, Prescott's injury sounds like it's a painful one. The news about him doing what he can to seek an alternative that doesn't knock him out for a minimum of four games goes to show how bad the narrative about him "quitting the team" last Sunday really are.

These might've started out with fans watching during the weekend but were irresponsibly blurted out on live TV by James Jones on FS1, who simplified things by saying he once played on a hamstring injury a week later.

Jones' claims were made with no insight at all on Prescott's injury, as evidenced by Slater's report, which describes it as more than "a hamstring," as Jones so emphatically and incorrectly described it.

For now, it's Cooper Rush's time in Dallas as the Cowboys gear up for an NFC East showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles.
