There has been a ton of smoke around the idea that the Detroit Lions will trade for Brown's edge rusher Za'Darius Smith at the NFL trade deadline. Late Saturday night there were multiple reports that the Lions were calling the Browns about Smith.
Now Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk is reporting that a source has told him the Lions are expected to trade for Za'Darius Smith on either Sunday Night or Monday.
As we write this, Smith is currently playing in a game for the Browns against the Chargers in Cleveland. It would be pretty crazy to have him finish up the game and then just trade him at the end of the night. Plus if the Browns win this game do they still feel they want to trade him? Right now this just feels like a rumor and not much more.
We're going to see pretty soon if Florio's source is right. The trade could go down after tonight's game or maybe Monday. The current asking price for Smith is reportedly a high day three pick. Let's see what the Lions pay if they indeed make the deal.
