Cleveland Browns came back to the reality of their 2024 season in Week 9 against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Browns were handed an ugly 27-10 loss by the Chargers to drop them to 2-7 on the season.

With the loss, you can put a fork in any thought of Cleveland pushing for a playoff spot this season. The Browns are a bad football team and they need to act as a bad football team should at the NFL trade deadline.

Cleveland clearly should be sellers at the trade deadline that is coming on Nov. 5. The Browns shipped wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills a few weeks ago and that shouldn’t be the only player they move on from.

After beating the Ravens last week and Jameis Winston playing well, things snapped back to reality in Week 9. Winston showed against the Chargers that he isn’t helping save the season like Joe Flacco did last season. Winston threw three interceptions against the Chargers and the offense once again looked like the worst in the NFL.

It is clear now more than ever that the Browns should ship off any player who isn't in their future plans for draft capital. According to Mike Florio, that is currently expected to happen with the Browns sending Za’Darius Smith to the Detroit Lions.

Whether it is Smith or someone else, the Browns need to make a trade or two and build toward the future at the deadline. They are what they are at this point through nine games. Cleveland is not making any noise this season, so now they need to think forward.
