On Monday morning, New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen received the news that no coach ever wants to hear. The team is moving in a different direction without him, effective immediately.

The team's latest loss, a debacle in itself, to the Carolina Panthers was the tipping point for the veteran coach. The Saints simply had to move on from Allen.

Saints fire coach after loss to Carolina

New Orleans drew a line. Apparently, losing to the Panthers crossed that line. New Orleans entered the NFC South matchup as losers of six games in a row. They were not finding any success, and both sides of the football were suffering. T

he front office continued to give Allen and co. grace considering all of the injuries that they have dealt with in 2024, but the results continue to mount.

The writing was on the wall, and not even general manager Mickey Loomis could find enough reasons to keep Allen in the building for New Orleans.

Cam Jordan chimes in

The veteran defensive lineman took a shot at the Panthers, after losing to them. Yes, that is correct. He was basically ashamed for falling to the franchise the many feel is the worst in football for this year and in recent history.

Jordan mentions expectations, which does make sense. New Orleans was expected by many to be a contender for the postseason as a wild-card team or even to win the NFC South.

Instead, they have lost seven games in a row en route to one of the worst records in football. As of now, they would pick in the top three of the 2025 NFL Draft.

New Orleans' choice to let go of Allen now is the ultimate indictment of how the Panthers are viewed around the NFL.
