The Houston Texans have finally addressed one of the team's top offensive concerns with a latest roster move made on Monday morning.

Leading up to the trade deadline on Tuesday at 4:00 pm, many people were hoping the Texans would make some kind of move to add some reinforcements to the offensive line to better protect quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Well, a move was made and the Texans were able to bring in a versatile player without having to give up anything in return.

According to Aaron Wilson, the Texans signed former Chicago Bears offensive lineman and former Tennessee Volunteers standout Jerome Carvin to the practice squad. Carvin has plenty of experience at both guard positions and center, making him a valuable asset to have on the team.

Given his ability to play multiple positions up-front and the fact that he only allowed just three sacks in five seasons at Tennessee and zero in the NFL, it's insane to think this guy wasn't already on a roster.

Carvin had a solid summer with the Bears and played strong in the preseason allowing zero sacks or pressures on 64 pass blocking snaps at center and right guard. Carvin had a strong shot to make the Bears roster but was surprisingly left off the 53-man roster and wasn't brought back to the practice squad after cuts were made.

After leaving Chicago, Carvin was signed to the New England Patriots' practice squad but was released back on October 8th. Now, the Texans get to take full advantage of both team's mistake.

After the Texans' loss to the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football last week, everyone finally got to see how glaring of a need the team's offensive line has become on a national stage.

According to ESPN's Mina Kimes, "the interior of the line alone is responsible for over 18 sacks this season, which is more than any other team in the NFL." Clearly, something needed to be done about that.

Adding a player like Carvin is a great start to improving things and I'd expect to see him get elevated to the gameday roster soon. And I don't think this will be the only move the Texans make this week to sure up the offensive front.
