The NFL has flexed the Los Angeles Chargers' Week 11 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals to Sunday Night Football, per a report from ESPN insider Adam Schefter.
The game will now air on NBC at 5:20 PT, bumping out the originally scheduled Indianapolis Colts-New York Jets matchup, which will now be played at 1 p.m. ET. With the Colts and Jets both having losing records, this was a wise decision by the league.
Although the Bengals also have a losing record at 4-5, they have the talent to get things turned around and make a playoff push. They also have one of the most dynamic offenses in the NFL, led by quarterback Joe Burrow, who is having an excellent season statistically.
As for the Chargers, they sit at 5-3 after winning their last two games in blowout fashion. It may be a tall task to dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs for the AFC West division title, but Los Angeles currently holds the No. 6 seed in the grand scheme of the AFC.
The Chargers are led by their dominant defense, ranking eighth in the league against the run and in total defense. Coach Jim Harbaugh has already changed the culture in L.A. through just eight games. Now they'll get to show off their revamped attitude to a national audience as the they will play three primetime games in four weeks.
In Week 12 the Chargers will host the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night football, and then they're back on Sunday night as they travel to K.C. to take on the Chiefs in Week 14. Wedged in between those games is a road matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, making for a very tough four-game stretch.
