The Minnesota Vikings' depth on the offensive line took a hit on Tuesday morning as the New England Patriots signed guard Tyrese Robinson from the practice squad. The news was first reported by ESPN's Mike Reiss.
The Vikings brought in Robinson in 2023 to the practice squad to develop him as a guard. He was an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma in 2022 and was looking pretty solid for the Vikings.
During his three preseason games, Robinson played in 146 snaps with increasing grades from Pro Football Focus, going from a 64.4 to a 70.3. He also allowed just two pressures across 91 pass-blocking snaps.
Robinson nearly made the opening day roster with his performance in the preseason, but the Vikings decided to prioritize seventh-round pick Michael Jurgens instead. Now, Robinson goes to a Patriots team that has struggled on the offensive line this season and may get a chance to play.
