NASHVILLE – It looks like Tennessee Titans cornerback L'Jarius Sneed is going to miss yet another game on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Sneed has been out with a mysterious quad injury for a month now, and despite Brian Callahan's continued optimism and updates that Sneed is "close," he has not been on the practice field all week. Callahan ruled Sneed out after Friday's practice.

After initially being ruled as day-to-day with a bruised quad, the Titans gathered more information with an MRI and diagnosed Sneed with a quad strain. For the first time since he went down with an injury, I caught up with Sneed in the locker room on Wednesday to get an update on his status.

Sneed said that he has not been cleared to do anything on a football field since going down. He has only been in the meeting rooms.

"Just taking it day-by-day, unfortunately," said a very short and cryptic Sneed. He called the injury "very disappointing and very surprising" given the amount of time he has been out. But also added that he knew the injury was significant as soon as it happened.

When asked if he feels like he could make a big impact on this defense if he was out there, Sneed responded with "not sure because I'm not out there." It was just an overall strange vibe that left me with more questions about his situation than I had before speaking to him.

While he did not give deliberate answers, Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson helped reassure some of my questions. Wilson made it clear that nothing more is going on that meets the eye. Sneed wants to play and is simply not healthy.

"He is not a quitter. He is trying to do everything he can do get out on the football field and when he's healthy to get out on the football field, he'll play. There is no quit in him. He's a leader. He's a tough guy," said Wilson.
