Josh Allen had a big game. It wasn't perfect — it's hard to be perfect against an elite defense like the Chiefs — but it was absolutely heroic.
Despite saying "it's just a Week 11 win" after the 30-21 victory over the previously-undefeated Chiefs, there's no denying that this game carries extra weight. For Bills fans, the Chiefs are the hurdle that their team can't seem to get past, especially not in the playoffs. And while this isn't a playoff game, this game could have major implications on playoff seeding.
For Allen, who put on his Super Man cape with an unbelievable touchdown run that will go in his career highlight package, Allen put a huge feather in his cap for his quest for his first MVP award.
This is an MVP moment for Allen. Going against an elite defense on an undefeated team, 4th and 2 from the 27 yard line, up by two with 2:27 minutes left — if you convert on fourth down, you have a good chance to finish the game. If you don't, Kansas City and Patrick Mahomes would have needed to get something like 25 yards to line up for a game-winning field goal.
Allen did a lot more than convert on fourth down. Tucking it, he pulled out an iconic run, bouncing off defenders and muscling his way into the end zone.
With that score, Allen put the Bills up 30-21. It was the first time the Chiefs have allowed 28+ points in their last 30 games. The run was an iconic moment in what could propel the Bills to a No. 1 overall seed in the AFC, depending on how the last six games go.
The Chiefs still remain the Bills' biggest hurdle. Buffalo has found regular season success against the Chiefs in recent years, but they've still yet to do it in the postseason. Hopefully we get a chance to meet this team again in what would be another otherworldly atmosphere for playoff football between two legendary contemporaries.
Entering the weekend, Ravens' quarterback Lamar Jackson was the biggest threat for the MVP award. With Allen having a legendary moment, Jackson completed only 48% of his passes for 207 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT, adding 46 rushing yards on the ground in an 18-16 loss to the Steelers. Allen may have closed the gap.
Bills’ polarizing first-round draft pick can leave no doubt about his future in Buffalo with a strong 2024 finish
