Following another wild week of college football, the Alabama Crimson Tide are hoping to see another rise in Tuesday's CFP rankings.
The closer the Tide can get to the top, the higher their chances of going deep in the bracket.
What won't help those chances is the loss of starting safety and playmaker Keon Sabb:
Kalen DeBoer Confirms Keon Sabb is out for the Year
"He had his surgery and was away from us for a few days there," DeBoer said when asked about the status of Sabb. "But, you know, he's just a guy that really has grown relationships with the team, and we want him around here. He's one of those guys, like the others that are done for the year too [LB Que Robinson, WR Cole Adams), that care so much about this team, and we care about him. And so as far as a timeline, you know, I can't give that to you right now. I know it will be obviously through this season, but we expect him back and ready to roll, you know, for next year, of course."
Sabb is a true sophomore who saw significant playing time on last year's national championship-winning Michigan Wolverines defense. A ball hawk, Sabb had already matched his season total in interceptions from his freshman year in just seven games with Alabama.
A defense that has forced three or more turnovers for over a month now, one could only imagine how turnover-worthy the unit would be if they had their centerfielder at the top of the defense.
"I love what his commitment level has been to our program, and we want to support him as he goes through these times, because these injuries are hard for guys, because this is not their only identity, but this is a big part of what they do playing football right now," added DeBoer.
A return in 2025 will provide a big boost to a Tide team that is only looking to ascend as Kalen DeBoer builds his program.
