Texas coach Steve Sarkisian kickstarted his weekend with news that 6-foot-7 offensive tackle Nick Brooks had announced his oral commitment to the Longhorns.

“Big Humans!,” Sarkisian tweeted shortly after Brooks posted his announcement on social media.

The mammoth four-star prospect from Loganville, Ga., who checks in at 360 pounds, chose Texas over Iowa, Georgia and USC, according to On3.

“Brooks is another large human of the sort we’ve become accustomed to seeing at Texas in the Flood era,” Inside Texas recruiting analyst Ian Boyd wrote. “He’s an easy mover at 6-foot-7, 360 pounds who reminds of Cam Williams or Andre Cojoe from previous classes.

“Brooks can get low and move well for such a big man on zone concepts but also pulling on counter runs,” Boyd added. “He’ll profile as a right tackle but there’s a chance he could end up as a left tackle if his pass protection skills develop. Moving inside to guard at that height probably isn’t in the cards but he is a physical run blocker.”

On3 considers Brooks to be the nation’s 35th-best offensive tackle prospect for the Class of 2025 and the No. 30 overall player in the state of Georgia.

There were rave reviews from 247Sports as well.

“Overwhelming size and functional strength in the running game,” 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks wrote. “Generally displays good hand placement in the majority of situations. Flashes promising athleticism when traveling to the second level. Limited throws reps as a freshman but that does qualify him as a multi-sport athletic profile.

“Naturally high center of gravity compromises leverage,” Brooks continued. “Gets too far out over his feet at times. More catcher than puncher early on, but has flashed encouraging engaging punch in some pass pro reps.”

Nick Brooks’ commitment comes several days after the Longhorns missed out on five-star tackle Michael Fasusi, who picked Oklahoma. Texas now has five offensive linemen in place for the 2025 class and 17 players overall.
