Year in and year out we see that the initial 53-man roster for an NFL team is not the same one they’ll have a week later often. That very well could be what is going to happen with the Cleveland Browns you can just about bet on it.

Following the final preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks, the Browns are now tasked with chopping the roster down to 53.

When they do so, there are going to be other players out there that could be worth the Browns going after. Specifically, I believe the Broens still have their third tight end position open and that guy may not be on the roster. In my 53-man prediction, I gave the nod to Zaire Mitchell-Paden, however he is no lock.

TE Tanner Hudson

There is a chance that the Bengals keep Hudson, but they would have to let go of one of their other tight ends. Mike Gesicki and Erick All Jr. will be on the roster, so the third tight end spot appears to be between Hudson and Drew Sample. Hudson had a breakout year in a way for the Bengals last season after bouncing around his first four years. Hudson had 352 yards and a touchdown as a non-focal part of the offense.

If Hudson is let go, he may be a guy that fits in with what the Browns want to do and that third tight end spot that isn’t locked up. Going from Cincinnati to Cleveland would be a short trip for Hudson, who the Browns would have to sign instead of claim.

TE Harrison Bryant

Let’s save the familiar name for last and that is Bryant. After spending four years with the Browns, Bryant signed with the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency. In Las Vegas, Bryant is battling for the third tight end spot with a pair of young tight ends ahead of him. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Bryant is let go and a free agent once again.

If that is the case, the Browns may look to bring him back in. With the third tight end spot up in the air, the Browns could look to bring some familiarity to the room. Bryant had three touchdown catches for the Browns last season despite having under 100 yards. Keep an eye on this one.
