The Cincinnati Bengals are looking to win a season-opener for the first time in three years when the New England Patriots come to town to kickoff the 2024 season.
This may be a battle between two last-place AFC teams from 2023, but the Bengals are looking like a far superior club entering this season. Outside of Ja'Marr Chase's ongoing hold-in, the Bengals' roster is well-balanced and set to climb up the AFC North. They are 7.5-point favorites as of this posting, which makes them the largest favorite of Week 1.
Will you be able to watch the game on TV? If you live in the dark blue areas on the map below, you’ll get this game on your local CBS channel, according to 506sports.com:

Almost all of Ohio will have coverage of the game, as will Michigan, most of Kentucky and West Virginia, and a large chunk of the midwest outside of Minnesota, Indiana, and Illinois. The vast majority of New England states including Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Maine will get the game. Fans in southern states such as Arkansas, Mississippi, Virginia, and North Carolina will also be able to tune in.
Who's calling the Bengals game this week?
CBS is sending one of their top broadcast crews to call the Bengals' game in Cincinnati:
– Ian Eagle (play-by-play)
– Charles Davis (analyst)
– Evan Washburn (sideline)
There are some juicy storylines that brought this caliber of crew to Paycor Stadium. If Chase doesn't play, how will the Bengals' offense operate in his absence in an actual game? They've been practicing without him for several weeks, but will the offense look different than expected without the team's top target on the field? The latest reports indicated a push has been made to get him signed, but if he's out, watch out for slot receiver Andrei Iosivas and tight end Mike Gesicki to be heavily involved.
Gesicki himself is set to make his Bengals debut, and it happens to be against the team he played for last year. The same goes for right tackle Trent Brown, who was named the starter this week by head coach Zac Taylor. Revenge games are always fun to monitor.
On the other sideline, Jerod Mayo is making his regular season debut as New England's head coach. Mayo is taking over for Bill Belichick after 24 years on the job and six Super Bowl victories. Mayo played under Belichick for eight years and coached under him for another six. He'll have to overcome long odds with Jacoby Brissett at quarterback to post the first win of a new era in Foxborough.
AFC North Roundtable: One reason why each team won’t make the playoffs in 2024
With three teams making the playoffs in 2023 and all four primed for another postseason run, it's easy to see why the AFC North is the NFL's best division. But, this is the NFL, where anything can happen. And, no team is perfect. Every one has its weaknesses that can be exposed on the field, […]
