One of Nico Iamaleava's teammates takes an amusing dig at how successful he's been for Tennessee Vols in 2024

Tennessee Vols punter Jackson Ross hasn't had to do a whole lot of punting this season. And that's not a bad thing for the team, obviously.
The Vols have been dominant through two weeks, lighting up the scoreboard to the tune of 120 total points. Nico Iamaleava has been a big part of that outbreak, setting a school record for passing yards in a half in the Vols' 69-3 opening win over Chattanooga before following that up with three total touchdowns in a 51-10 drubbing of NC State last Saturday.
As such, Ross hasn't had to trot onto the field much and boot the ball away. He's only had to punt one time in each game this year. And to celebrate that objectively good fact for the Vols, Ross took to Instagram to make a tongue-in-cheek post directed at his quarterback for being so good.

Obviously, Ross is having some good-natured fun at the early season success of Nico and the Vols' offense.
But hey, that success has also managed to get Ross more work than he normally has. Ross is the holder on the Vols' field goal unit. So far, Tennessee has attempted a whopping 15 extra points (all converted) and 6 field goal attempts (5 made). That's kept Ross a very busy man.
Tennessee fans hope that Ross continues to see the field on his knee rather than dropping back 15 yards as the SEC slate gets underway next week. That would surely mean Nico and the Vols' offense has continued its strong momentum from the start of the season. Something Ross undoubtedly would love.
