Former Florida Gators head coach Dan Mullen dropped his new top 25 on Sunday after Week 4 of the college football season.
And Mullen is a little higher on the Tennessee Vols than the voters in the AP Top 25 poll.
Tennessee is ranked No. 5 in the new AP poll while Mullen has the Vols at No. 4 in his top 25.
Mullen's rankings are certainly interesting. Dropping an undefeated Georgia all the way to No. 6 is a gift to Kirby Smart, who will use anything he can to motivate his team. And Alabama at No. 3 despite not playing a ranked team yet is baffling.
It's still incredibly early in the season, so rankings don't mean much just yet. But at the same time, we're starting to see the playoff picture take shape. And the Vols, at least for now, are in a great position to be one of the 12 teams that will get to compete for a national championship later this winter.
