The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off a huge upset win over the Detroit Lions in Week 2.

They are now starting their week of preparation for the Denver Broncos in Week 3 with fantastic news.

Starting right tackle Luke Goedeke returned to practice on Wednesday after missing Week 2 with a concussion.

Goedeke's absence was a significant problem for the Buccaneers. They saw Lions pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson have an all-timer type of performance with him sacking Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, not once, not twice, not even three or four times, but five. Through the first two weeks, the Buccaneers have only allowed six sacks in total, with one coming in Week 1 and all five of their Week 2 being by Hutchinson. It's not every day you see a team overcome allowing a player to single-handedly wreck the game like Hutchinson was able to last week. But the Buccaneers weathered the storm and came away with the 20 to 16 win.

Now, the Broncos may not have a pass rusher of Hutchinson's caliber lining up opposite the Buccaneers in Week 3, but getting Goedeke back would be a major boost to the team's offensive line, which needs to protect Mayfield so he can continue his strong start to the 2024 season. Mayfield is currently tied for the most passing touchdowns thrown in the league with five, and he has thrown for the tenth most passing yards with 494.

Goedeke's return to practice Wednesday is a win for the Buccaneers, but they aren't quite out of the woods yet. He will need to check the final boxes remaining in the concussion protocol throughout the week before he can be fully cleared for in-game action. If he isn't able to check the required boxes, the Buccaneers will once again look to Justin Skule to fill his spot.
