Chicago Bears offense Justin Fields Cole Kmet yards NFL football Miami Dolphins win loss news

For all of the progress the Chicago Bears have shown on offense, one player isn’t satisfied with the unit’s improvement.

Bears tight end Cole Kmet has blossomed into a legitimate red zone threat this season. Kmet finished the Bears’ 35-32 loss to the Miami Dolphins with five catches for 41 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Quarterback Justin Fields and his offense are beginning to show signs of an explosive group. While there are teams around the league that would perform unspeakable acts to have Fields behind center, his offense came up just short.

“We had opportunities, man,” Kmet said. “Since I’ve been here, the defense has always been picking us up. You want to have a chance where the offense picks the defense up. This was our chance today and we didn’t do it. There’s a lot of work to do still.”

This is the type of response that contributes to a winning culture inside the walls at Halas Hall. Sure, he found the endzone twice and put up solid numbers from an individual standpoint, but it means nothing without a win.

The Bears seem to have found their quarterback for the future. That’s the hard part. General manager Ryan Poles will be tasked with putting a viable supporting cast around him.

However, it’s time for Fields and this Bears team to learn how to win these types of game. It’s fantastic to see Chicago moving in the right direction, but if this team wants to compete for a playoff spot next year they must first learn how to close out games this season.
