Future Hall of Famer Jason Witten is back in the national spotlight.

The former Dallas Cowboys tight end is set to accept the head coaching job for renowned Lipscomb Academy's football team, 104.5 The Zone’s Brent Doughtery tweeted on Monday.

The Nashville high school is one of the best football programs in the country thanks to Trent Dilfer's successful reign as head coach, but now it looks for a new face to lead it.

Why?

Dilfer recently accepted the head coaching job for the UAB Blazers (NCAA FBS) after going 43-10 over four seasons at Lipscomb. The program recently completed an undefeated 13-0 season and is currently ranked as the 14th-best program in the country per USA Today.

Lipscomb's recent state championship appearance was its third straight.

After meeting with Lipscomb Academy officials last Monday, the 11-time Pro Bowler is now set to take over as head coach for one of the most prestigious coaching vacancies in the country.

This was no ordinary high school head coaching search, by the way as Witten beat out other high-profile candidates.

The former Cowboys tight end will take over the team in a critical stage, too. Lipscomb intends to move up to Division II-AAA and will be facing the toughest competition in Nashville moving forward.

Witten recently coached Liberty Christian School in Texas, but returns to his native Nashville, where he also represented the Vols in a record-setting career for the school.

Dallas Cowboys fans better be ready to hear a lot more about Witten in the media again as they support him in what could be a very successful era for Lipscomb Academy and the coach himself.
