The Philadelphia Eagles (7-0) have one monumental advantage as the team goes on the road to do battle with the Houston Texans (1-5-1) on Thursday Night Football.

The Eagles’ offense has put the league on notice through the first half of the season. This dynamic unit uses explosive plays in the passing game as well as gashing defenses with its rushing attack.

The Texans haven’t had much success stopping either this year, but it’s been their run defense that has really let them down so far.

Houston ranks dead last in the NFL, allowing an average of 186 yards rushing per game. The Texans are coming off a performance against the Titans in which running back Derrick Henry bludgeoned the defense for 219 yards on the ground.

Henry became the fourth running back to exceed 140 rushing yards against the Texans through seven games. That happens to be a trend that bodes well for Eagles running back Miles Sanders.

Philadelphia enters the contest boasting the NFL’s sixth ranked rushing offense. The Eagles are averaging 149.6 rushing yards per game behind its lethal duo in Jalen Hurts and Sanders.

Houston’s defensive front doesn’t match up well with anybody, but the Eagles’ offensive line creates an extreme mismatch. Philadelphia lays claim to the best offensive line in football, which makes stopping the run even more difficult for the lowly Texans.

This key advantage could prove to be the difference in Thursday night’s game. If the Eagles can stick to their run-first offensive identity, they should be able to salt away the bottom-dwelling Texans for their eighth win of the season.
