The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are currently 3-3 and in the midst of one of the worst slogs of the Tom Brady era.

Things got really bad this past week thanks to a 20-18 loss at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Buccaneers were overwhelmed and overmatched by the then-losers of four-straight contests as the Steelers led wire-to-wire.

A big part of the loss was the Buccaneers defense's inability to get off the field on third down. The secondary allowed multiple 3rd and 10+ conversions late in the game via Chase Claypool and Mitch Trubisky and those conversions proved to be the final nails in the proverbial coffin.

The Buccaneers were without safeties Mike Edwards and Logan Ryan on Sunday against the Steelers, which contributed to the defense's inability to stop Claypool on third down.

And as it turns out, the Buccaneers are going to be without Ryan for quite some time. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Ryan's foot injury will require surgery and the plan is to place him on IR after said surgery.

He's expected to return for the postseason, which is a mere 12-13 weeks away.

It's unclear as to whether or not the Buccaneers will pick up an outsider at this point in time. The team still has Keanu Neal, even if he's more of a box/run-stuffer and, they elevated Nolan Turner from the practice squad last week.

Still, at the end of the day, it's another frustrating injury to an important player that's bound to have an impact on the Bucs' season.
