The Kansas City Chiefs had a rough game against the Indianapolis Colts, and I'm sure we all remember that one. We don't need to go into it too much, but the gist is this. The offense wasn't great, the defense was, and the special teams can be the biggest reason for the loss.
The Chiefs lost star kicker Harrison Butker to an ankle injury and signed Matt Ammendola to their practice squad, who was then elevated for the Colts game. Long story short, he was cut after the loss to the Colts. The Chiefs didn't tell us why, but my guess would be the extra point he missed, and the two-field goal attempt he missed.
But, that's just a guess. You can honestly say that game was a nightmare because it was that bad. The Chiefs always have at least one game like that, and they got their out of the way.
Last game against the Buffalo Bills, the Chiefs got Butker back, and he looked great, besides the one "chip shot," that he missed.
Butker was back, and the worries were gone. But, players can have setbacks after injuries, it happens all the time.
“I’m good," Butker said Wednesday when asked about how his ankle was feeling after Sunday. "I wanted to make sure I was able to play a whole game without a setback, and I was able to do that.”
The Chiefs' nightmare is officially over, as they have their guy back. Matthew Wright was great while he was here, and will likely earn a roster spot somewhere, as he did break the record for the longest kick at Arrowhead stadium, which was later broken by Butker on Sunday.
Long story short, the Chiefs won't have to worry about their star player for this Sunday against the 49ers.
