Just as the national media had started to run with the most foolish NFL narrative in recent memory, the Buffalo Bills effectively squashed this stupid storyline in Sunday’s 23-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
After a gut-wrenching loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 3, everyone was painting the Bills as a team that couldn’t win close games.
Prior to Buffalo’s win, the team was 0-7 in games decided by one score since the beginning of the 2021 season, playoffs included.
It felt as though the Bills were being punished for obliterating their opposition in their many lopsided victories in that timeframe.
On Monday, Kyle Brandt, who is co-host on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, slammed those who gave this narrative life.
“We saw the death of one of the stupidest storylines that the Bills can’t win close games. I understand that when there is a lot of hype for somebody and there is a lot of crowning ‘em before they win it all, you look for any kind of foothold in the opinion and take game with which to bring them down,” Brandt exclaimed. “Stupid. They had 20-straight wins of over double digits. Don’t penalize them for just whooping ass week after week.”
It’s always refreshing to see a media member hold his colleagues accountable, especially when it comes to something as mind-numbing as this storyline.
