After blowing a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter to the Green Bay Packers nearly two weeks ago, the Dallas Cowboys have won back-to-back games. A huge reason has been the running game and the contributions of Ezekiel Elliott.

On Thursday against the New York Giants, Elliott ran for a season-high 92 yards and scored his seventh touchdown of the season. That score put Elliott in elite company when it comes to the Cowboys as it gave him 75 touchdowns for his career, tying former wide receiver Dez Bryant for the fourth-most in team history.

Elliott's performance against the Giants was his best of 2022, and it started early. The former two-time rushing champion had carries of 10, 15, and 22 yards in the first quarter. It marked the first time that Elliott has had three carries of 10 or more yards in the same quarter since December of 2019, a season in which finished fourth in the NFL in rushing.

Elliott missed two games with a hyperextended knee that he suffered against the Detroit Lions in Week 7. Since his return, Elliott has shown his value to the Cowboys by being productive between the tackles and in short-yardage and goal-line situations. Elliott has averaged 4.3 yards per carry and scored three rushing touchdowns, all of which have come in the red zone.

It's been no secret that the Cowboys have wanted to get Tony Pollard more involved in the offense, as they should, he's too explosive not to. In some cases, a player that's accomplished what Elliott has might be taken back when his role is reduced a little. However, Elliott made it clear recently that he is not phased that Pollard is getting more shine these days.

“Not at all," said Elliott. "I think we all have the same goal, go out there and win football games. … No, no way.”

That's exactly what a leader would say. Elliott realizes the value of Pollard, and he also knows that it's not stopping him from contributing.

Maturity at its finest.
