Taysom Hill scored Thursday night.
It still wasn't enough, as the New Orleans (2-5) Saints faltered, behind Andy Dalton's consistent turnovers, to the Arizona Cardinals 42-34.
But Hill's touchdown signifies the recipe for the Saints moving forward — have Hill do more and be more within the offense.
New Orleans has a strange problem. They don't like to use their most potent weapons on offense. After Dalton's second pick-six, New Orleans should have made a move to the athletic gadget player. It could have given the offense some semblance of life.
Much like running the ball with Alvin Kamara, the Saints need to give Hill more chances to make more plays.
In the passing game, Hill went two-for-two with 48 yards. He was averaging 24 yards per throw. And then in the rushing department, Hill ran the ball three times for nine yards (three yards per carry). Lastly, in the receiving department, Hill's touchdown on the night came from one three-yard catch, where he fought through the defense to score the ball.
New Orleans has nothing to lose. The season is slipping away. If the goal is winning, the Saints need to get Hill more involved in the offense, whether that is throwing the ball, running the ball, or playing a pass-catching role. Either way, trying something new can't hurt. New Orleans needs it.
