The Green Bay Packers have seemingly been involved with Odell Beckham Jr free agency rumors since March.
OBJ, who finished the 2021 season with the Los Angeles Rams, still hasn't signed with an NFL team.
The former LSU star is rehabbing his torn ACL that was suffered in the first half of Super Bowl LVI.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers suggested last week that he'd like to play with Beckham at some point.
Rodgers is obviously nearing the end of his career so if he wants to play with OBJ, it'll have to happen soon or it won't happen at all.
Green Bay, however, may have blown their chance last year to sign Beckham this year.
Here's why:
The Packers tried to sign Beckham last year after he was released by the Cleveland Browns.
Green Bay's offer, though, was terrible.
According to ESPN, the Packers only offered Beckham the veteran league minimum ($660k). Los Angeles swooped him and offered him $4.25 million.
Pretty easy decision for Beckham.
And now, nearly a year later, it's reasonable to wonder if OBJ felt disrespected by the Packers' offer. I'm sure a lot of folks may think that's silly, but professional athletes often use those types of situations as motivation. And I wouldn't be shocked if OBJ feels the same.
I imagine he'll have no shortage of suitors as he gets closer to a return. I also imagine he'll join the team that gives him the most money and also has the best chance of getting back to the Super Bowl.
And based on what happened last season with Beckham, plus how the Packers have played lately, I have my doubts that Green Bay will be where he lands.
