Dallas Cowboys Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore isn't out the door to Boise State yet. Although, it is possible that he accepts the head coaching job at his alma mater. Reports are swirling that the current Dallas offensive coordinator has interest in the position. Accordingly, the school shares that interest. Cowboys fans have enjoyed Moore's mind at the helm of the offense for the most part, so the loss would be substantial.

If Dallas were to lose their young, exciting coordinator, who could they turn to to hire?

Mike Kafka, QBs Coach, Kansas City Chiefs

We all know how ridiculously impressive the Chiefs offense is and has been over the past few seasons. Therefore, anybody who is having a hand in Patrick Mahomes' development and success will most likely get some calls about different coaching positions. Kafka fits that billing. He and Offensive Coordinator Eric Bienemy are two of the candidates that a lot of folks are talking about right now. Being from the Andy Reid coaching tree is a huge plus, and both of them are veteran presences that have proven they can help take an offense from 0 to 100 real quick. Not to mention, Kafka is a former NFL quarterback. That's certainly something that could be useful in even further developing Dak Prescott or his heir, depending on the long-term QB that the Cowboys decide on.

Dan Mullen, Head Coach, Florida Gators

This one is a bit crazy, but it does make some sense. Mullen engineered Dak Prescott's career at Mississippi State, and he is garnering increasing attention as an offensive play-caller. Furthermore, Dan's offense is averaging over 40 points per game this season. The move would still be a big step-up for Mullen. The head coach position at an SEC program is big, but the NFL is another beast. Mullen has previously been linked to Dallas in previous years as well. The Cowboys would need to make a splash regardless, so would a Dan-Dak reunion make the most sense?

Anthony Lynn, Head Coach, Los Angeles Chargers

Some may scoff at this one because it would mean that Lynn was fired by LA after this season. In reality, Lynn has shown he can be a very inspiring offensive mind during his career. It is part of the reason the Chargers hired him in the first place. He is currently playing a role in Chargers rookie QB Justin Herbert's development, but he is not calling the plays. Those plays have come under some scrutiny, but that is not on him. Plus, Lynn is one of the most beloved coaches in the entire NFL, so he would be a solid addition to Mike McCarthy's staff.

Mike McDaniel, RBs Coach, San Francisco 49ers

49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan is one of the most respected young coaches in the entire league, so McDaniel's name goes a bit under the radar. It should not. McDaniel has helped Shanahan input a dynamic, unique scheme in San Francisco. McDaniel is also turning guys like Jeff Wilson Jr. and Raheem Mostert into some of the most explosive and exciting running backs in the league. That staff in SF has one of the most modern schemes, using a lot of motion and play-action. That would bode well for a team with Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, and the Dallas receivers. They've invested a great amount of money into their offensive line and running backs, so why not maximize them?

Tony Elliott, Offensive Coordinator, Clemson Tigers

Dallas won't be able to draft Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence, but why not steal his play-caller that has been instrumental to his success? Also, don't forget he was rumored as a HC candidate last year before the Cowboys hired McCarthy. Elliott runs a dynamic offense that often incorporates quarterback runs as well as a lot of 3+ WR sets. It seems to fit the Dallas roster like a glove. His name may come up for some college head coaching jobs as well as other coordinator openings around the NFL, so the Cowboys need to be early rather than later if they want to try to lock up Elliott as their OC.

It is possible Moore remains in Dallas, though. Either way, it is better to be overly prepared than not prepared at all. So, these are some names that could make waves as replacements if they do lose him to Boise State.
