If you are a New Orleans Saints fan, and that word will be tested this week, then you are probably aware that the Cincinnati Bengals will be in town on Sunday in Week 6.
These are two teams that have a ton of ties to each other, and similarities.
For starters, they both have very similar chants, or slogans, if you will. The New Orleans Saints chant goes "Who dat? Who dat? Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints?" The Bengals chant goes "Who Dey? Who Dey? Who Dey think they gonna beat dem Bengals?" I'll let y'all decide who stole it from who.
Anyways, the Bengals also have payers that are from New Orleans or played in the city prior to being in the NFL.
So, there are a lot of emotions going into this game. So much so, the New Orleans fan base is divided this week, and here is why.
If you watch college sports, or college football, more specifically, then you probably know about the 2019 LSU football team. They are considered one of the best to ever do it and won the National Championship that year.
A lot, if not most of, Saints fans are also LSU fans, just because they are in the same area, technically.
On that 2019 team, there was a quarterback and a receiver that will be playing in New Orleans this Sunday. That's right, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and receiver Ja'Marr Chase will both be in New Orleans playing the Saints, and they are excited from the sound of it.
“It’s a place that a lot of good memories were made,” Burrow said Wednesday. “But, it’s a business trip. We’re going in to win a game.”
And, he should feel that way. As for Saints' fans, they are divided due to some fans purely wanting the Bengals to win on Sunday instead of New Orleans, that way the man that brought their favorite college team a championship, can have even more success in the NFL.
Me, well I don't care who you root for, and any other fan shouldn't either, because anyone can root for whoever they want. not every fan is the same and some are more fans of LSU than they are of the Saints. that is completely normal.
I do know though, that the Saints will need everyone cheering them on in the 'dome if they want their team to have a chance at winning. Which team am I talking about? Well, we will have to see on Sunday, as we could hear chants anytime either team does something well.
