The best way for the Packers to approach the NFL trade deadline

There's been a lot of talk about the Green Bay Packers needing to trade for a wide receiver before the trade deadline.
Green Bay's wide receivers have struggled this season — which isn't a surprise since it's a group comprised mostly of young receivers and unproven veterans.
But is giving up assets for a wide receiver the right move to make?
If the Packers were 4-3 or 5-2, it might be worth it. But right now, Green Bay is tied with the Chicago Bears in the NFC North with a 3-4 record. And the Bears looked better than the Packers in week seven.
That's not to say Chicago is going to leave Green Bay behind this season — the Bears have plenty of talent issues — but the Packers don't exactly look like contenders right now.
And giving up valuable draft picks for a player that might not solve the problem probably isn't the best approach.
Zach Kruse, who covers the Packers for "The Packers Wire", might have the best idea.
The Packers should stand pat at the deadline and if things turn around, they should strongly pursue Odell Beckham Jr.
OBJ should be back in December from his torn ACL. If the Packers can right the ship, Beckham could be what gets them over the hump come playoff time.
I've long been an advocate of Green Bay making a move for a wide receiver. But based on how the Packers have played lately, I think keeping the draft picks is the better approach.
Now, what are the chances of the Packers actually taking this approach?
That's hard to say. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has made it clear he wants the team to be active at the trade deadline. Will the front office go with logic or with their star player's suggestion?
I have a feeling it might be the latter. And I'm just not sure that's the best idea for the future of the franchise.
