The Minnesota Vikings (10-2) are showing plenty of resiliency. Since losing at home to the Dallas Cowboys 40-3, they've fallen a game behind the Philadelphia Eagles (11-1) for the top seed in the NFC.
Unfortunately for Vikings fans, the loss early in the season to the Eagles puts them ahead of the Vikings despite record. Meaning they own the tie breaker in the event both teams finish with the same record.
However, now it looks like the Vikings still have hope for the number one seed. They are already in the Playoffs. Thanks to strength of schedule, the Vikings will have an easier shot to take the top spot in the NFC.
The Minnesota Vikings have the second-easiest strength of schedule (.397 win percentage) as opposed to the Eagles. Who have the 15th-ranked strength of schedule (.508 win percentage).
Minnesota Vikings Remaining Schedule
@ Detroit Lions (5-7) (3-4 at home)
Indianapolis Colts (4-8-1) (2-4-1 on the road)
New York Giants (7-4-1) (3-2 on the road)
@ Green Bay Packers (5-8) (3-2 at home)
@ Chicago Bears (3-10) (2-4 at home)
Philadelphia Eagles Remaining Schedule
@ New York Giants (7-4-1) (4-2-1 at home)
@ Chicago Bears (3-10) (2-4 at home)
@ Dallas Cowboys (9-3) (6-1 at home)
New Orleans Saints (4-9) (1-5 on the road)
New York Giants (7-4-1) (3-2 on the road)
The Minnesota Vikings need to win out and have the Eagles to lose two games. With the most likely losses coming at the hands of the NY Giants (home) and Dallas Cowboys.
Minnesota's hardest remaining opponent is the Giants, who will have to go on the road. Averaging 20 points per game, regardless if they're home or away. The way they have played since the bye week (1-2-1) there's no reason not to be confident.
Things need to happen in Philly for the Vikings to take over the top spot, but destiny could be throwing the team a bone.
