Fans of the New Orleans Saints were nervous entering the team's matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders this weekend.

Part of that was due to the defense's matchup against wide receiver Davante Adams without star CB Marshon Lattimore.

Adams is one of the most talented wideouts in the NFL. The Saints' defense absolutely shut him down, along with the rest of the Raiders' offense.

Specifically, who matched up incredibly well with Adams?

None other than Saints' rookie defensive back Alontae Taylor.

New Orleans was really excited about Taylor's potential during training camp. Unfortunately, an injury has kept him off the field for most of this season.

Now, he's back, and he's a massive piece of the Saints' defense. The secondary is a different unit with Taylor on the field. The former Tennessee Vols' DB is always looking to make a play, and he's hungry to make an impact.

Between last week and this week, he is doing exactly that against a couple of the best receivers in the league.

Last week, he won most of his reps against the Arizona Cardinals' DeAndre Hopkins.

This week, Davante Adams couldn't do anything against the young stud defender. The Raiders targeted Adams three times against Taylor. He had zero receptions against him.

For the entire game, Taylor allowed just one catch in coverage for the Saints.

For the Saints, Taylor's emergence is massive.

The team was without their best cornerback today, and you couldn't even tell.

The rookie has shined over the past two weeks, and he will continue to get meaningful playing time. That only gives him more opportunities to develop.

The Saints may have a special young defensive back on their hands.
