Micah Parsons didn't waste any time making an impact for the Dallas Cowboys. The 12th overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft logged 13 sacks and 30 quarterback hits while snagging the Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
Parsons has kept his foot on the gas in year two. He has already racked up six games with multiple sacks. Not only is that twice as many as any player in 2022, but it's also the highest total of any player through the first 12 weeks of a season since 1982 when sacks became an official stat.
The young phenom just capped off an impressive five-day stretch. Last Sunday when the Cowboys took on the Minnesota Vikings, Parsons amassed two sacks and nine pressures as well as a forced fumble. Parsons then proceeded to make New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones' Thanksgiving a nightmare by sacking him two twice and helping the Cowboys to their fourth win in five games.
Parsons hasn't had a game this season in which he logged one sack and didn't get another. It's clear that bringing down the quarterback fuels something in Parsons, and he recently went into detail about his mentality when it comes to this fine art.
"If you get 1, you’ve always got to get seconds," said Parsons. "If I get 1 piece of lasagna, and I love lasagna, I’m going to go back & get me another piece of lasagna."
As a rookie, Parsons had three games with two sacks, and they all came during a streak of six straight games in which he recorded one. Parsons played in 27 regular season games for the Cowboys which means the gets a multi-sack performance every three games which is an outstanding rate.
Parsons is currently second in the NFL with 12 sacks and tied for second in forced fumbles with three, which equals his total in that category from last season. Parsons just continues to get better to the point where he has to be considered the best player in football, not just on defense.
