So far this season the Philadelphia Eagles (9-1) have proven to be the polar opposites of the Green Bay Packers (4-7).

In Sunday night’s showdown between the two NFC foes, the Eagles figure to have multiple advantages over Green Bay.

Led by the NFL’s back-to-back MVP in Aaron Rodgers, it is no secret that the Packers prefer to lean on its passing attack. Rodgers has had his work cut out for him this season, throwing to a new cast of characters at wide receiver.

Though Rodgers has endured his fair share of struggles in 2022, life won’t be getting any easier for him this weekend.

The Eagles enter the contest boasting the NFL’s second-best pass defense, allowing just 178.4 passing yards per game. Cornerbacks Darius Slay (3), James Bradberry (3), and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson (6) lead the Eagles’ opportunistic defense, having forced a league-leading 21 turnovers.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Eagles are in position to capitalize on another Packers weakness. The Packers have had problems in the run game this season, allowing 135.8 rushing yards per game. That number ranks 25th in the NFL.

Couple that with an Eagles rushing attack that ranks sixth in the league, averaging 142.2 yards per game on the ground, and that spells trouble for the Cheeseheads.

It’s fair to question Green Bay’s motivation heading into Sunday night considering the Packers are in the middle of a down year. Though the Packers are typically one hell of an opposition, this time around the Eagles have a matchup made in football Heaven.
