The Miami Dolphins (8-7) still control their destiny to get into the playoffs but continue their string of really unfortunate luck.

Not only have they lost 4-straight, they've since allowed the Buffalo Bills to re-claim and clinch the AFC East. Making the wild card the only option to get into the postseason.

What's worse is QB Tua Tagovailoa is in the NFL's concussion protocol again and his status for Sunday is unknown at this point.

On top of all of this, Christmas weekend didn't do the Dolphins any favors in their playoff pursuits. Not only did Miami lose to the red hot Green Bay Packers, the path to the wild card is now slimmer.

As mentioned, with the Dolphins losing and Bills winning, Buffalo has clinched the division. Unfortunately, both the Baltimore Ravens and LA Chargers are also in the playoffs with wins over the weekend. Tightening the race in the AFC standings.

This weekend, the Dolphins take on the New England Patriots (7-8). Their biggest obstacle to getting into the playoffs. With a loss to New England, Miami no longer controls their own destiny.

Following this weekend, the Miami Dolphins play another divisional playoff challenge in the New York Jets. Another team in the midst of a long string of losses (5 of their last 6).

The good news is that not only do the Dolphins control their own destiny, but many of the teams fighting for the final wild card spot will face challenges of their own.

  • Tennessee Titans vs Dallas Cowboys
  • NY Jets @ Seattle Seahawks
  • Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens
  • Las Vegas Raiders vs San Francisco 49ers

The Dolphins can leave this weekend a step closer to the playoffs. As tight as the race continues to be.
