Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy got candid while talking about quarterback Justin Fields on Thursday and what he had to say wasn't exactly encouraging.

Getsy was asked about Fields' poor completion percentage so far this season (50.7 percent through four games).

The former Green Bay Packers assistant told reporters that Fields' completion percentage should actually be lower.

Getsy said Fields should be throwing the ball away more instead of taking sacks.

That comment has to be frustrating for Bears fans for a couple of reasons.

For starters, this is the last conversation Chicago fans want to be having about Fields right now. It feels like he's moving in the wrong direction and this question to Getsy highlights that.

More importantly, though, I think this answer from Getsy is a complete disaster.

He answers that Fields should be throwing the ball away more?

As the offensive coordinator, Getsy's answer should've included something about scheming wide receivers open better or utilizing Fields' legs to get him in a better position to pass the ball.

Instead, Getsy's answer is to keep doing what the Bears are doing. And have Fields throw the ball away more often.

It's like he's attacking the wrong problem — which is that the offense has no identity.

And based on what Getsy said on Thursday, I wouldn't expect that to change anytime soon.
