I think we can all agree that the Seattle Seahawks are having a year that I don't think anyone imagined. What the Denver Broncos currently are, is what everyone thought the Seahawks would be, and vice versa. The Kansas City Chiefs will see that first hand on Saturday.
One of the biggest reasons Seattle is as good as they are is because of the resurgence of quarterback Geno Smith, who looks like a completely different player than what we all knew him to be.
He is gaining the respect of everyone around the league for what he is doing. I mean, heck, even the potential league MVP is raving about the season he is having, and why he is so good.
“Yeah, I mean he gets – first off, every throw he throws is like a perfect spiral," Patrick Mahomes said on Tuesday. "I know that gets taken for granted in this league. But, he throws a perfect spiral every throw. He's getting those receivers going. They have two great receivers with a lot of other guys too that have a lot of speed.
"And so, he's able to get those receivers going and take the shots from there, but take the underneath. And they've had a lot of young guys step up. And so, (Seahawks QB) Geno's (Smith) done a great job of taking advantage of what's there. And that's why he's had such a great season.”
Smith is first in completion percentage at 71%, which that stat alone should be able to knock your socks off when you factor in that he has played every game. Then you go down the stat line even more and you will see he's seventh in passing yards, fourth in passing touchdowns, fifth in QBR, and second in overall rating, according to ESPN.
If this guy isn't getting comeback player of the year or some type of award for this amazing season, then I don't know what else he has to do. He is basically doing it all while throwing only eight interceptions.
The Seahawks have their guy, and he was behind Russell Wilson the whole time. On Christmas Eve the Chiefs will have their hands full.
