There's been plenty of discussion through the first six weeks of the season about the Green Bay Packers and their struggles so far in 2022.

Green Bay's sluggish 3-3 start has been blamed on young wide receivers, a lack of aggressiveness from the defense, and the offensive play calling.

Fingers are being pointed in every direction it seems.

But the one direction they don't seem to be pointing is at quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

And some comments this week from Rodgers and Packers head coach Matt LaFleur have made me wonder whether or not Rodgers is the real issue here.

After Green Bay's embarrassing 27-10 loss to the New York Jets, Rodgers told reporters that he feels like the offense needs to be simplified.

When LaFleur was asked about Rodgers' desire to simplify things, the Packers' head coach responded with "I don't know what that means".

It's pretty clear that Rodgers and the coaching staff aren't on the same page.

Green Bay's offense isn't drastically different this season than it's been in previous seasons.

It's the execution that's lacking.

So what do we think is more likely, that Rodgers isn't on the same page or the rest of the team isn't executing at a high level?

If Rodgers isn't on the same page as the coaching staff and everyone else, the offense is going to sputter. And I'd wager that it's much more likely that Rodgers is the one that's "off" not everyone else.

What's the solution?

I'm not sure there is one. Rodgers is still one of the most gifted quarterbacks of all time. And he can still play at a high level as evidenced by his back-to-back MVP awards. But he doesn't have the same approach this season. And it's a problem for the Packers.

The only person who can fix this is Rodgers. He has to decide to get back to the mindset that made the offense work that season. Until he does that, it's going to continue to be a frustrating season for the Packers.
