Everybody around the sports world seemingly commented on Dak Prescott's gruesome injury, and that truly shows the kind of person and leader that the Dallas Cowboys quarterback is.
Prescott suffered a nasty injury that has been well-covered and you have likely seen now. The play occurred on a nine-yard run on 1st-and-10 with just over six minutes remaining in the third quarter of week five's matchup against the Giants.
The Dallas Cowboys led 24-23 and were just plays away from extending the lead, but the stadium went quiet. A cart came out for Prescott and emotion poured out.
Dallas Cowboys players ran off the sidelines to greet and talk to Prescott as he was taken off the field on the cart. Even former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett, currently the offensive coordinator for the New York Giants, walked out onto the field.
There was emotion everywhere.
One reaction that stood out to me on Sunday was from Michael Gallup. The third-year wide receiver out of Colorado State has created a great downfield connection with Prescott and has been on the receiving end of many big plays from the Cowboys quarterback since arriving with the Cowboys.
Gallup's reaction was all of us during that sequence:
Ezekiel Elliott would go on to score a touchdown on that drive, extending the Cowboys lead to 31-23. As Zeke celebrated, he shouted his close friend and quarterback by raising four fingers. That was a pretty special moment.
From there, many took to Twitter and social media to voice their support and encouragement for the Cowboys star quarterback. Defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence stated that Prescott is "coming back better than ever!".
Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson tweeted at Prescott. Both of them received big deals in the offseason. Here's hoping Prescott receives one in free agency this upcoming offseason.
Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams and Pittsburgh Steelers pass rusher TJ Watt were almost Dallas Cowboys defenders at one point in time. Both of the NFL stars reached out to Prescott following the injury.
We have seen some devastating injuries occur to many athletes over the years, unfortunately. Two of the more notable ones in recent memory are Alex Smith and Gordon Hayward.
Hayward, a member of the Boston Celtics, took the time to type out a message for Prescott, offering his support and letting him know that he is not alone in his battle back from injury.
Dak Prescott has had to overcome a great deal of adversity, so this is nothing new to him. Prescott's brother, Tad, tweeted out an image of them at the hospital and mentioned the possibility of number four winning MVP and Comeback Player of the Year in his return season.
We are looking forward to seeing how Prescott recovers from this crushing injury. From what we know about him, expect him to come back better than ever.
