The Dallas Cowboys fell to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night, but rookie cornerback Trevon Diggs was one of the few bright spots for America's Team. Mike Nolan's side of the ball had its best performance of the season, though some of that can be attributed to Carson Wentz's struggles at quarterback.

Diggs was one of the primary factors in why the Cowboys defense played well on Sunday in prime time. The second-round rookie draft pick out of Alabama entered week eight still looking for his first-career takeaway.

That is no longer the case as the Cowboys prepare for week nine.

The rookie defensive back not only recorded his first takeaway of his young career, the Alabama product came away with multiple takeaways against the Eagles. Diggs picked off Wentz on two different occasions.

The first interception that Diggs made was on an athletic dive in the end zone, where he barely stayed in bounds while catching an overthrown pass from Wentz.

Diggs grabbed his second interception of his career — and the game — in the third quarter. Wentz and the Eagles were looking to take a shot down the field, but Diggs came down with it.

Pro Football Focus graded Dallas Cowboys rookie Trevon Diggs very highly after his performance against the Philadelphia Eagles.

As a result of his two interceptions and overall mostly-solid play, Trevon Diggs finished week eight with a grade of 90.4 — the best grade from any defensive rookie going into Monday night's matchup of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Giants.

Diggs did not play a perfect game. He is a rookie corner, after all. He was on the wrong end of a Wentz-to-Travis Fulgham touchdown and had his usual rookie mistakes. Still, it is encouraging to see the Cowboys defender grade out well by PFF and come away with his first two interceptions.

The Alabama product has a more daunting task on his plate in week nine, as the Pittsburgh Steelers and the wide receiver corps of Chase Claypool, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Dionte Johnson come into town.
