The New Orleans Saints' offense this season hasn't been nearly what it has been at times in the past decade.

Injuries and quarterback inconsistency has held the unit back. The play-calling has been questionable at times as well. That being said, one constant has stood the test of time for the Saints.

Star running back Alvin Kamara is still a special talent among his peers.

He hasn't been as explosive this season. Most of that probably isn't his fault.

Kamara hasn't gotten quite as many designed looks in the offense this year, either. That's been a bit of a head scratcher because he has been productive through the air out of the backfield throughout his illustrious career.

Regardless, NFL history is on the table for the Saints' RB.

Kamara has 717 rushing yards this season. He has 480 receiving yards. Therefore, he is just 20 yards away from eclipsing 500 receiving yards this season.

It'd be the fifth time in his career that he would have over 500 receiving and rushing yards. Kamara has at least two more games to accomplish that.

If he does, he will stamp his name in the record books again.

Kamara would have the second-most seasons with 500+ yards on the ground and through the air.

Marshall Faulk is the only running back to do that more often than Kamara. He did it in six seasons during his career. Kamara will almost certainly match or beat that record in coming seasons.

This advanced stat of the week is powered by Boston Scientific!

Even in a frustrating season, the Saints' running back is still having a unique year for the history books.
