The Philadelphia Eagles are flying high.
As the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL (4-0), Philadelphia won 29-21 on Sunday in an extremely unconventional manner, forcing turnovers.
"We are getting better each week," Philadelphia linebacker Haason Reddick said. "And we decided to go out there, work and dominate the matchup that was in front of us. We know where we can be. And we know what we can do."
Philadelphia's defense is finally coming together. Yes, the weather may have played a part, but the secondary's coverage gave Philadelphia's front line enough time to hawk Trevor Lawrence down all game.
The Eagles sacked Lawrence four times. Two of which came from Reddick. And the near-constant pressure led to Lawrence fumbling the ball four times and throwing an interception.
How Philadelphia made Sunday happen
Outside of the turnovers, Philadelphia also held Jacksonville scoreless for two quarters after falling behind 14-0. By the time Jacksonville scored again, in the fourth quarter, the game had flipped. And that flip was led by a defense that wasn't allowing a fast-paced Jaguars offense enough time to find a rhythm.
"Nobody flinched," Reddick said.
The Eagles have dominated on the offensive side of the ball through most of the season. Sunday's win was one that the Eagles can thank the defense. And for the first time all season, Philadelphia faced adversity, coming out on the other side while looking even better.
"We talk about adversity, but have we faced a lot of adversity? Not really," head coach Nick Sirianni said. "We are here because we are built to handle adversity. It's a long game, just like it's a long season. We'll do whatever we need to do to win a football game."
Still, Sirianni acknowledging how the team handled adversity, gave all the credit post-game to Reddick, who made countless plays throughout Philadelphia's ugly win.
"It's all about the players who know how to create turnovers," Sirianni said. "Good players know how to create turnovers. And that's Haason."
Defense leads to offense
Philadelphia's defense led to the offense finding life, scoring 20 points in the second quarter alone.
Jalen Hurts started the trend with a scamper into the endzone with nine minutes left in the second quarter. From there, the dam burst. Running back Miles Sanders led the way with 134 yards on 27 carries. Meanwhile, Hurts threw for 204 yards and ran for 38.
"The best thing about being 4-0, is being able to be 5-0," Sanders said. "We are going to watch the film from this game and get better."
