The Chicago Bears have reportedly shown interest in trading for a veteran wide receiver.
Pro Football Focus insider Doug Kyed reported on Tuesday that Chicago has shown interest in New England Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne.
The Chicago Bears are among the teams who have called New England about Bourne’s availability in a trade, according to a source. Chicago needs wide receiver help but is otherwise selling off assets such as edge defender Robert Quinn and linebacker Roquan Smith in trades. It would help to get a player like Bourne in the building now to give him half of a season and the offseason to work with quarterback Justin Fields.

This would be a nice under-the-radar move for the Bears if they can make it happen.
Bourne isn't a superstar and he'll probably never make a Pro Bowl, but he's a solid player who had the best year of his career in 2021.
The former undrafted free agent caught 55 passes for 800 yards and five touchdowns last season.
Bourne hasn't had the same success so far this season — he has 11 receptions for 156 yards — but some of that can be attributed to the lack of continuity in the passing game for New England this season.
The Bears need to build around quarterback Justin Fields. And while adding Bourne wouldn't be a splash move and certainly shouldn't be all Chicago adds before next season at wide receiver, it would still be a shrewd move by Bears general manager Ryan Poles if he can swipe the talented wide receiver from the Patriots.
