The Las Vegas Raiders suffered a massive loss off of the field early on Thursday.

Former Raiders' punter Ray Guy passed away at the age of 73.

Guy is widely considered to be the greatest punter of all-time. He was the first punter elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

A true Raiders' legend, it is a sad day for the organization and its fans. Guy spent fourteen years with the Raiders.

Guy was the first punter to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. Additionally, the award for the best punter in college football annually is named after him.

His impact across multiple levels of football is quite clear.

Not to mention, Guy was a gifted athlete in multiple sports.

On the day he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, he explained his choice to play football long-term.

“I was a good athlete and could have been a major league pitcher or an NBA basketball player, but I knew God had something special for me,” Guy said on the day he received his Bronzed Bust. “And eventually one sport would stand out beyond the rest, and it did. Playing in the NFL with the Raiders was my destiny, and I never looked back or questioned my decision.”

Guy was the definition of a special character on and off the field. He will be greatly missed.
