There's a reason why a lot of folks ignore the national media and Chicago Bears fans were reminded of that this week.

Fox Sports' Colin Cowherd spent some time this week passionately discussing the Bears and the direction of the team.

Cowherd referred to a running back on Chicago's roster named "Armstrong" multiple times.

If you're a Bears fan you're probably well aware that there isn't a running back named "Armstrong" on the roster.

Here's the clip:

To Cowherd's credit, he did later acknowledge the mistake.

“By the way, as I’ve been talking about the Bears’ weapons, the running back is David Montgomery,” said Cowherd. “For the life of me, I have no idea why I called him Armstrong a couple times, I have no idea. I’m talking about a million names, a million trades, stuff happening.”

I'm glad he clarified, but I have a feeling his mea culpa came only after he was notified by a producer that he was talking about a non-existent player.

We all make mistakes, but not all of us have those mistakes seen by hundreds of thousands (or millions) on television. Sorry, Cowherd — when you get that gig you have to accept the criticism that comes along with it.
