The Kansas City Chiefs won their ninth game of the season on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. While the win is nice, and that's why they play, there were a lot of things that I'm sure the Chiefs would have liked to be better.

If we are going to give out credit to the phase of the team that had the best performance in this game, it has to be the defense, who stepped up and made things hard on Rams first-time starter Bryce Perkins.

The defense was great. They did exactly what they were supposed to do, and it wasn't looking good for most of the game for the Rams on offense.

But there are some things that have to be fixed if they want to beat Cincinnati next week.

“Yeah, I mean I thought the defense played well," Mahomes said after the win. "Obviously, some special teams and some offense we got to clean up. The defense kept us in the game (and) got some turnovers for us (and) got some big stops after some turnovers that we (the offense) made but especially in the red zone we got to execute at a higher level.

"I got to execute at a higher level, and I got to take out like the one dumb play I make every game it seems like so if I can take that out, I think we’ll be alright.”

Four red zone trips resulted in field goals. That's something that cannot happen with this team.

If any other team in the league does that, that's four field goals and 12 points for them. For the Chiefs, whose offense is held to a higher standard, that's unacceptable.

The special teams' errors continue to haunt the Chiefs. We thought it would be better when Toney was announced as the future punt returner, but as we know, he is currently hurt.

Skyy Moore, the rookie receiver, had yet another muffed punt. Later Justin Watson was catching punts.

"That wasn’t a very good showing for him (Skyy Moore), although he came back and had that nice catch right after that which for a young kid, kind of get that out of his mind I thought was a plus,” Andy Reid said after the game.

There is still so much room for improvement that it's kind of scary. If I was a team that has the Chiefs remaining on my schedule, I'd be terrified of what they could look like.
