Throughout the off-season, there was questions surrounding David Bakhtiari and whether he'd be able to consistently contribute to the Green Bay Packers' 2022 season.
Complications from knee surgery caused the All-Pro left tackle to miss all but one game last season, and have cost him two games — due to easing back into action — so far this season as well.
Things appeared to be getting more positive after Bakhtiari made his 2022 season debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in Week 3. He only played 27 snaps, but in limited action, all signs showed that Bakhtiari responded well and was ready to begin contributing a lot more.
And that he did, playing a whopping 70-snaps in Week 4 against the New England Patriots. Bakhtiari then followed that up with a 25-snap performance in Week 5 against the New York Giants, before jumping back up to 69 snaps in Week 6 against the New York Jets.
But then an unexpected development came in Week 7, or in better terms, before the Packers' Week 7 matchup against the Washington Commanders. Bakhtiari was named an inactive before the the Packers' latest game, which was a surprise to many.
Head coach Matt LaFleur explained why during his media availability today.
"Saturday, he [Bakhtiari] came in and wasn't feeling right," LaFleur said. "They [Packers training staff] worked him our during pregame and he felt like he couldn't go."
That certainly sounds alarming, especially if Bakhtiari complained of the problems after three straight days of limited practice.
Now the question is, how much will Bakhtiari be able to practice and play moving forward?

That's not a question that can be answered right away due to obvious reasons. But it's one that has to be kept on the back burner for the rest of the season because the situation is so complicated.
Last month, LaFleur mentioned that Bakhtiari practicing three straight days wasn't going to be a thing. But Bakhtiari did just that this past week leading up to Week 7, which is something that needs to be questioned.
LaFleur was questioned about it today and he indicated that getting away from the three-day-a-week practice schedule for Bakhtiari is a real possibility.
"That's definitely a discussion that's gonna be had with all of us [LaFleur, Bakhtiari, Packers medical staff]," LaFleur said. "In terms of what's best."
It sounds like Bakhtiari's practice schedule is bound to be discussed soon, which could be a remedy used towards alleviating some of the late-week surprises regarding Bakhtiari and his complicated knee situation.
Regardless of what goes down, Bakhtiari's injury concerns haven't gone away, and won't go away until Bakhtiari begins to show signs of getting back to full strength without the fear of relapses.
Until that occurs, it looks like rough sailing in terms of Bakhtiari's status being a given on a weekly basis.
